Medium-volume laser welding: precision subcontracting for repeatable production

Visit 7 May 2026

DOUBLE CŒUR produces metal parts using industrial laser welding for manufacturers who need intermediate volumes – from a few dozen to a few thousand parts – with repeatability and traceability requirements that conventional processes do not systematically guarantee. Our organization is geared to medium-sized production runs, with controlled production rates, recorded parameters and reactivity to batch rework.

What medium-volume production requires of a laser subcontractor

Mid-range laser welding production cannot be managed like a prototype or a mass production run. It requires a precise balance: the process set-up must be robust enough to last the duration of the batch, the parameters stable enough to guarantee the same quality for part 1 as for part 500, and the organization agile enough to absorb the planning adjustments that industrial principals inevitably impose. It’s a combination that few subcontractors can master without significant investment in equipment and human resources.

At DOUBLE CŒUR, this combination has been our day-to-day business for over forty years. IREPA LASER, the laser technology reference center that founded DOUBLE CŒUR, has forged a culture of process repeatability that is directly reflected in every medium-sized batch we handle.

Our offer: from pre-production to regular batches

We are involved in all stages of your production cycle as a subcontractor for series laser welding. In the development phase, our process engineers analyze your geometry, validate the parameters and secure the process before the first mass-produced part. In production, our multi-axis robotized cells maintain weld bead stability throughout the batch. At the end of a production run, or on rework, the documentary traceability recorded for each production run means that you can pick up exactly where you left off, without a rework phase.

Our high-power lasers, up to 10 kW, enable us to work on parts ranging from a few millimeters to several meters, in aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, copper or superalloys. The flexibility of our machine park, with more than twenty industrial lasers on site, gives us the capacity to absorb increases in production rates and emergencies without impacting current batches.

Batch repeatability and quality control

Repeatability in mass-production laser welding rests on two pillars: stability of process parameters and rigorous production control. DOUBLE CŒUR is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Each batch is subject to systematic recording of welding parameters, dimensional checks during production and, according to customer specifications, non-destructive testing. Traceability is ensured on a part-by-part basis when required by the specifications.

For customers in the automotive, energy, aeronautics and e-mobility sectors, rigorous documentation is not an option, it’s a prerequisite. We integrate it right from the quotation phase.

Why entrust your series to DOUBLE CŒUR rather than a general subcontractor?

Outsourcing medium-volume laser welding production to a generalist often means accepting a compromise between process development quality and competitive pricing. DOUBLE CŒUR is not a generalist subcontractor. A dozen engineers and technicians specialized in laser processes, over twenty industrial lasers, and four decades of production for the most demanding sectors of industry: this infrastructure cannot be reproduced by a general-purpose subcontractor.

In concrete terms, it means that your parts are produced by experts who understand the metallurgical constraints of your material, anticipate the risks of thermal deformation, and dimension the process to last the entire duration of your series, not just the first validation parts.

Do you have a medium-volume laser welding project? Send us your drawings or specifications. Our engineers will get back to you within 48 hours with initial technical feedback and a quotation tailored to your volume.
